Dear Darja,

I am happy to provide you with the info for Germany. Please note that
due to internal re-organization of CLARIN-D responsibilities, I am now
acting as User Involvement representative for CLARIN-D, with Jennifer
Koritko acting as my deputy. Please make sure that you include her (see
cc to this email) in all communication about UI since Jennifer Koritko
will be handling much of the communication on my behalf.

Revamping of the CLARIN ERIC webpage about UI is surely useful. Even
more urgent, though, is the preparation of a user involvement strategy
by CLARIN ERIC's Executive Director and its Director of User
Involvement. The User Involvement Document produced by your predecessor
is not sufficient and cannot form the basis for user involvement
activities to be coordinated by ERIC's UI committee. Germany has pointed
this out at the past two GA meetings in Copenhagen and Athens and been
asking for a new written strategy. Sadly, this has not been acting upon
up to now and remains a necessary step before CLARIN-D can effectively
engage in further UI activities at the ERIC level.

Germany continues to look forward to a comprehensive user involvement
strategy in written form as input to the next UI committee meeting and
as a basis for further work on this committee.

Thank you and best wishes for the holidays and the new year,

Erhard

Here is the info you requested:

- The representative’s name and contact info

Prof. Dr. Erhard Hinrichs, National Coordinator of CLARIN-D
Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen

deputy:

Jennifer Koritko
Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen

- His or her photograph

will send you in a separate email

- A short description (roughly 3 sentences) of the work they are doing

CLARIN-D is working closely with more two-hundred scholars in digital
humanities and social sciences disciplines in Germany. The work is
organized in eight disciplinary working groups (Facharbeitsgruppen) and
in thematic working groups that convene regularly in face-to-face and
virtual meetings. CLARIN-D further holds several yearly dissemination
events at the national level and co-sponsors the annual European Summer
University in Digital Humanities (ESU) at the University of Leipzig, to
which it contributes course offerings taught by researchers of CLARIN-D
centers.

the primary target are humanities scholars in Germany, they are
