Dear all,

First of all allow me to apologise for the delay sending this report.
I have attended to the eduGAIN Trust and Identity Meeting on the 7th of December only [1].

The meeting was not extremely interesting for CLARIN since its main focus was the final public consultation on the future GÉANT Project workplan for trust and identity (2019 and beyond).
Still, there were some ineteresting points that caught my atention:

1. GEANT is planning to build an eduGAIN service catalogue which can be a very useful resource for both users and identity federations, including us. No dates were mentioned for this and I got the impression that this was still in a preliminary conceptual phase.

2. ~11% of eduGAIN IdPs now have embedded the R&S entity category.

3. As usual eduGAIN did some resonable progress in terms of country memberships and IdP coverage. The focus has now changed from federation menbership to try to aproach 100% IdP participation within each federation. This sounds great for us.
Currently the total IdP coverage rate has raised to ~57%. All national federations from CLARIN countries have shown some progress in this respect (exception of course the ones already with full coverage).
For more details on this matter please take a look to Brook Schofield's presentation [2].

4. The newly created eduGAIN support desk as handled ~120 tickets in about 8 months at the time of the meeting [3].

5. There was not much discussion on the new GDPR but some aspects of it seem to be rather problematic to implement. Nicole Harris refered as an example that: using the R&S entity category is mentioned by the best pratices for compliance with the GDPR, however eduGAIN will not try to enforce this.

The minutes of the meeting are available here:

If you have any comment or doubt about any of this, please free to ask, I will do my best to clarify it or ask eduGAIN for clarification.

Have a nice weekend and kind regards,
----
