Dear FIM4R colleagues
In the name of AARC, DARIAH, ELIXIR and GÉANT I would like to make you
aware of the upcoming:
*************************************************
"AAI Workshop for Service and Resource Providers"
in Manchester (UK) on 15-16 March 2016.
*************************************************
More details on the workshop and registration are available on:
http://anenadic.github.io/2016-03-15-elixir-aai-workshop-manchester/
What will I benefit from the workshop?
--------------------------------------
You will get familiar with how to install, configure and operate
SAML-enabled services using Shibboleth with the goal to support
federated login. You also will understand the concept of federations,
eduGAIN and of federated identity management in general.
Last but not least, you will also meet some nice and knowledgeable
colleagues who already know or want to learn all of the above as well.
Who is expected to attend?
--------------------------
The target audience is mostly technical people from international
communities (in particular DARIAH and ELIXIR but not limited to these
two) who want to enable federated login with Shibboleth for their web
services. There will be a high level overview on day one but the most
beneficial part of the workshop will be the hands-one sessions where
participants actively will install and configure a Shibboleth SP.
How does the program look like?
-------------------------------
On *day 1* participants will:
* Learn basics about federated identity management, SAML and Shibboleth
* Install and configure a Shibboleth Service Provider in
several hands-on sessions
* Configure and test various access control features
* Get first-hand tips and recommendations from Shibboleth experts
* Meet other people that run federated services
On *day 2* participants will split up in two parallel sessions. One
specific for DARIAH and the other one for ELIXIR participants. They then
will learn how to connect to and make use of the already existing
SAML-based AAI infrastructures of these two communities.
It's possible to attend day 1 only of course in case one is not member
of the DARIAH or ELIXIR research communities. More information on the
program is also available on the workshop page (see below).
Does the workshop cost anything?
--------------------------------
No, attending the workshop is free for participants of research
communities. You have, however, to pay yourself for travel,
accommodation and some meals of course.
Where can I register?
----------------------
