Hi all,<br>
<br>
Yesterday we had a meeting to discuss the strategy for future CMDI
and metadata curation activities. I have added notes for this
meeting to the meeting page at
<a class="moz-txt-link-rfc2396E" href="https://trac.clarin.eu/wiki/Taskforces/CMDI/Meeting20191028"><https://trac.clarin.eu/wiki/Taskforces/CMDI/Meeting20191028></a>.<br>
<br>
We agreed that it would be good to continue this discussion in a
next meeting about three weeks from now. If you would like to
(continue to) participate in this discussion, please fill in the
doodle at <<a class="ext-link"
href="https://doodle.com/poll/k6xk7ka4bhywpyqk"><span class="icon"></span>https://doodle.com/poll/k6xk7ka4bhywpyqk</a>>.
I expect that we will have one or two of these meetings before we
will go into 'branched' mode and work on specific tasks, while still
having (less frequent) meetings to report and synchronise on the
various tasks.<br>
<br>
To prepare for the upcoming meeting, you can already look at the
goals in the strategy document and add your own suggestions or
remarks:
<a class="moz-txt-link-rfc2396E" href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/1cRJKiise8HFS16gqG4gC3TsI0W-TnLSnebh_YS6mZ3U/edit?usp=sharing"><https://docs.google.com/document/d/1cRJKiise8HFS16gqG4gC3TsI0W-TnLSnebh_YS6mZ3U/edit?usp=sharing></a>.
Additions to any of the other sections of the document are also
welcome, of course.<br>
<br>
I will try to pick a final date for the next meeting by the end of
this week. Thanks!<br>
<br>
Best,<br>
Twan<br>
<br>
P.S. one of the things to discuss and hopefully decide on in the
next meeting is whether we want to change the way we use these
mailing lists, as they reflect the state of the task forces in that
they are technically separate but in reality treated as one, which
is confusing. For now, things will remain as they are but be aware
that there may be changes regarding the communication channels in
the relatively near future.<br>

Thanks to those who filled in the doodle! There were two options that
were selected by 8 out 9 and I selected the earliest of those (sorry
Marcin):
Monday 28 October 14:00 - 15:00
There is a meeting page at
<a class="moz-txt-link-rfc2396E" href="https://trac.clarin.eu/wiki/Taskforces/CMDI/Meeting20191028"><https://trac.clarin.eu/wiki/Taskforces/CMDI/Meeting20191028></a> which as
usual has a preliminary agenda. As we will be discussing strategy rather
than ongoing work, the agenda is a bit different compared to most recent
meetings of our task forces, so please have a look and feel free to add
your suggestions if you have any.
I will also try to prepare a working document for the strategy and share
it some time before the meeting.
Best,
Twan

<pre class="moz-quote-pre" wrap="">Hi all,
Last week the CLARIN Annual Conference took place in Leipzig and as
announced we had a meeting of the 'joint task forces' in the early
afternoon before the official opening of the conference. Although the
turnout was a bit less than at previous annual conferences due to
parallel sessions, I think we had a very constructive and open
discussion about the ongoing and future activities of the task forces.
There were many interrelated topics and we didn't stick to agenda in the
listed order all the time, I tried to organise the notes (thanks for all
attendees who contributed!) as much as possible and included a curated
version on the meeting page at
<a class="moz-txt-link-rfc2396E" href="https://trac.clarin.eu/wiki/Taskforces/CMDI/Meeting20190930"><https://trac.clarin.eu/wiki/Taskforces/CMDI/Meeting20190930></a>. Feel free
to amend or correct, especially if you were present at the meeting :)
We also have an open doodle for a virtual meeting towards the end of the
month:
<a class="moz-txt-link-rfc2396E" href="https://doodle.com/poll/wvzt6xu9c3m6urhx"><https://doodle.com/poll/wvzt6xu9c3m6urhx></a>
The main topic of this meeting will be a continuation and hopefully of
the strategy discussion we started during last week's meeting - I hope
we can make some good steps towards a concrete strategy for the short to
mid term. If you would like to join this meeting, please fill in the
Doodle and I will try to pick a final meeting date by the end of this week.
Have a good week and hope to see many of you again soon!
Best,
Twan
PS I would like to especially thank Maria (ILSP) for joining our meeting
so that we could discuss the relation between the work in the relation
between ISO 24622-3 (CMDI pt3) and the activities in our task forces
despite being needed in the standards committee meeting at the same time.
