Please see the message below about an event next week, which will be of
interest to some of you (especially Neil!). It's not entirely clear, but
it looks like it's an in-person-only event.

Dear UK IE DH subscribers,

Next week, experts from the two biggest libraries in the world join us
at the Cambridge Social Data School public event to discuss the
challenges faced by galleries, libraries, archives and museums (GLAM)
professionals when using generative AI for tasks such as content
description, access to information, and transliteration. The
conversation will be guided by the themes of technology, language,
difference, and indigenous knowledge.

GLAM professionals, researchers, and volunteers – as well as anyone with
an interest in the topic – are invited to join us as we consider: How
can generative AI assist librarians in their work? How might it hinder
them? What are the potential consequences of AI misuse in
bibliographical record creation? AI for Bibliographical Record Creation:
Hopes and Anxieties
