CLARIN ERIC is looking for 4 delegates to an LLM Workshop in Stockholm (11.09.2024)
CLARIN ERIC and the National Library of Sweden (Kungliga biblioteket) are co-organising a workshop on legal issues surrounding Large Language Models. The workshop will take place in Stockholm on 11.09.2024, as a pre-conference workshop of the conference “Digital Knowledge – The Library and Copyright in a Global Digital Economy” (https://www.kb.se/samverkan-och-utveckling/kalendarium-samverkan-och-utveckling/kalendarium-samverkan-och-utveckling/2024-04-26-digital-knowledge---the-library-and-copyright-in-a-global-digital-economy.html).
The aim of the workshop is to bring together experts on legal and ethical issues surrounding LLMs. It is an invitation-only event. It will be chaired by Prof. Daniel Gervais, a world-renowned expert on copyright law and AI. The participants will include government representatives.
CLARIN ERIC will send delegates with both “legal” and “technical” expertise; however, this call concerns the “technical” delegates only.
Since the number of participants is strictly limited, CLARIN ERIC can only offer 4 places for its “technical” delegates, which will be attributed in this call procedure.
A successful candidate:
-              Is an accomplished academic with demonstrable experience with technical aspects of LLMs;
- is affiliated with a CLARIN centre.
Demonstrable history of cooperation with libraries would be a plus.
CLARIN ERIC will cover the travel costs of selected delegates in line with the CLARIN reimbursement policy.
Applications containing a CV and a list of publications are to be sent to Paweł Kamocki (chair of the CLARIN Legal and Ethical Issues Committee and co-organiser of the Workshop; kamocki at ids-mannheim.de<mailto:kamocki at ids-mannheim.de>) before July 31, 2024.
