Dear users,

In connection with my inquiry of 15 May on the CLARIN developer's mailing
lists (.de, .eu) with the subject ‘Who needs http:// access to Centre
Registry? Please update to https://.’, I have decided to disable access to
the Centre Registry without TLS, meaning that http://centres.clarin.eu will
no longer work.

The motivation for this change is as follows. It will result in a simpler
configuration for server and less confusion if you try to log in to
centres.clarin.eu without using TLS, which would be very insecure. That
simply won't work anymore instead of displaying a confusing error message
(produced by Django). Note that the http:// URL was never officially
endorsed or communicated ever since the Centre Registry 2.0 was developed
and deployed. It had been left up as a precaution against old
configurations possibly using it.

Menzo Windhouwer responded to my inquiry, he updated the configuration of
the Harvest Manager, the main service affecting the Virtual Language
Observatory.

As of tomorrow 14:00 UTC+2 (Amsterdam time) this change will come into
effect.
